It's kind of ridiculous to have such a malignant, evil entity that goes as far as to murder a pregnant woman and her child yet the movie concludes with the demon simply being defeated just because the priest decides to have blind faith in God? What a non-climax. By that logic, how did the demon possess Father Lucas since his faith in God was never compromised?

Why is that ridiculous? That's the point. Doesn't matter how smart you think you are, you can't defeat the devil by outsmarting him. He can only be defeated by God.

But his faith was compromised when he lost the patient. I think you missed a few scenes.
