I found another inconsistency in the chronological order of the events depicted in the film,
in about 20:00 the band goes on a European tour and theres this little montage of some shows in various countries, one of them being Thessaloniki, Greece. After various scenes of touring in 27:00 as the titles said, in Munich Germany where that blonde lady screams at the club guy, one the band members says to another that he will be not playing tonight and so on..In the scene right after Lips is warned that he might even be sued by his buddy who wants to quit the band etc, This scene is shot in Thessaloniki,Greece. I can see Greek letters on shops, a Greek bus is on the road, Greek kiosks, handrails on the street which are only found in Thessaloniki, etc.
This way of cutting in non chronological order helps to develop the story better, but if this technique is used in more "serious" documentaries, then it should be even called manipulative to the audience. The debate about what is documentary and what is not is a huge one, and there are all sorts of documentaries, even those which are completely staged but want to pass on a true message.
However talking about this film, thought it was really great and touching, dont really care that there is a chronological inconsistency cause the story is not about an worldwide important issue or anything, its more about high hopes and relationships, all the events happened for real with the real characters, the people in the band are awesome, theres tons of cool footage from all over those guys lifes, so...so what if its a bit staged, it was fun and moving.
