MOM came out in 82 Big Bottom 84 in a movie...

and not the same cadence either.

I immediately thought the same thing. Well, seeing how Christopher Guest et al openly admit that they satirized real songs & real events, sure I wouldn't doubt if that's how they got Big Bottom.

Lyrically it's possible, but musically wise they're totally different. BB is a bass/synth bonanza (3 basses, wtf?) whereas MOM is a power-chord filled heavy metal anthem that I genuinely love banging my head to

Spinal Tap have actually toured. They should hit the road with Anvil.
