Um, I am surprised no one has mentioned the fact that Rob Reiner was the director of Spinal Tap in 1984... and this "Documentary" has a guy playing drums also named Robb Reiner (add one B)? I find this kind of odd.
Never heard of this band, and it makes me think this whole thing is a joke.
the whole movie is not why or how we havent heard of this band. its about a band who could not give up the dream even at 50.
the reason weve never heard of them is because after their 3rd album the music was bad. they may have had a bad deal with labels, managers etc but the music just isnt good enough.
so many bands make great first albums and then you never hear of them again, but they usually quit. what makes anvil special is their dedication to keep it going and trying to start again. thats the story, not some injustice over success.
However the quality of music is strictly an opinion.....you are stating it as a fact. I love most of Anvil's music. In MY OPINION everything they have ever done is better than ANYTHING by Metallica post 80s but yet Metallica have been very successful.
Millions of people love country....millions hate it. Who's right? Both....because it's just OPINION.
im not stating it as fact - i cant as i havent heard very much, heard much of the competition and am not a fan of that music.
im basing the opinion on the fact they didnt sell records. i wonder how many fans heard the other albums and just didnt like it enough to buy it.
i think other factors come into play but essentially its about the music, and if the fans as a whole dont like it/buy it then that is where i base my opinion.
however, the majority isnt always right. see most pop acts for reference.
