Better than nothing I guess.

Whats with this new formula of quick releases and other stuff???

Seems rushed and a horrible way to make money.

Films that's are streaming exclusives do this so that the films are still eligible for awards.

Also, they want more people to sign up for their streaming services

Profitable???

I remember reading an article recently about Netflix's CEO. It was about Glass Onion.

He said something like, why would we extend the theatrical run when we want people to watch it on OUR service

reply

Ok, but which way is more profitable for the movie creators?

Netflix bought the rights for the Knives Out franchise for 469 million dollars.

Rian Johnson, Daniel Craig & a producer each got $100m each.

So the creators are just fine. At least for this particular product

I wonder how much they would have got if it was in the movies for 6 months, then ppv, then streaming and dvd.

The wait anticipates peoples.

Today they are just churning them out.

The film made 13 million in just 600 theatres. It would've made bank but I guess the streaming numbers are more important to them.

I've seen a lot of these services doing this nowadays. Or the same day streaming & theatrical release. Which just hurts the film's Box office numbers

These studios are really leaning into their respective streaming services.

Anyone old enough to remember when there was maybe a handful of mainstream movies out at a time and each had a theatrical run for six or nine months at least?

And when all you had on TV were the big three. Television movies were a real event that kept people home just to tune in.
