When are American's going to realise they can't write comedy?

American's suck at comedy.

They have no sense of subtlety and resort to dumbed-down, juvenile humour aimed at the simplest of minds. This movie sucked. I knew it was going to suck as soon as they gave us a fat joke within in the first five minutes because hey! Fat people are funny lol and can't run!

Typical American tosh. Leave the comedy to us Brits and focus on the high-budget thrillers, sci-fi and action movies/tv series that you yanks are best at. Just leave comedy well alone. Every American comedy is awful, dumbed down nonsense. I honestly can't think of one that I've actually found to be funny.

Both countries have their good and their bad movies. If you didn't like the idea of this flick, then you shouldn't have watched it.

Why would you ever see an American comedy if you feel this way? Perhaps we should emulate someone like Benny Hill instead because isn't dumb or nonsensical at all right? I happen to like British comedy but it's not all better.

When will Brits like 'Yuffie' stop being boring and whiny?

Agreed! I'm Australian and the Brits are the funniest people in the world. The Americans have produced some good comedy too, but not since the 80's IMO. They have no *beep* idea these days.

As for the 90's, I stand by Seinfeld, Frasier and Curb Your Enthusiasm being outstanding comedies, without doubt, but not much else (and that is TV, not movies).

I once went to the movies when I was in San Francisco and people seemed to laugh at anything, whilst my husband and I sat stony faced. It was like pre-recorded laughter.

Most Brit comedies are very amusing because, as you said, Brits are masters of subtlety and the humor is far more high-brow.

I couldn't actually get through this film. Ebay here I come!

I'm a brit myself, and while I agree they're not subtle, if you're in the right mood, a lot of US comedy movies are great..... I can't actually name any at the moment though...

I loved Zombieland, and found it very funny, as well as I did How To Train Your Dragon, which is also american. I like some of the american comedy movies, and dislike others.

If we don't agree, show me your truth. If you resort to personal shots, I won't take you seriously
