Documentary recommendations?

I have never really watched documentaries, but after seeing Man on Wire I think I am going to start doing it more.

I've heard Werner Herzog documentaries are good, but apart from that I haven't heard about a lot of exceptional ones (except maybe the Up! series or Nanook of the North).

Can you recommend anything?

It's not what you're saying. It's all this stuff you're not saying. Insinnuendos.

The Times of Harvey Milk. Waltz with Bashir (borderline documentary i think)

I'd also recommend Waltz with Bashmir

I enjoyed Dark Days (free on YouTube)

Sigur Ros' film Heima

If you happen to have an interest in Noise music (and let's face it who doesn't) I'd recommend The Power of Salad and Milkshakes

Although I've not actually seen it I liked the trailer for this Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson

And most film festivals will have awards for best documentaries why not have a look around the past winners and runner ups (I always like the Sundance and Independent Spirit selections)
