Even if it was expensive for the initial model (A1000), then a cheaper and better model appeared in 1987 (A500).
Honestly, the Amiga was the best at the time: the Commdore 64 was 8-bit, so was the NES, and the IBM PC had no chance of touching what is arguably the first multimedia computer of them all, with the Amiga's sound and graphics and custom architecture being ahead of its time.
