What is up with the weird digital Playboy cover thing?

Whenever somebody pulls out a playboy, they obviously are doing some visual effects on the covers, why?

It's really easy to tell when the goofy kid gets his playboy at work, he holds it up and it's extremely hard not to notice. Why'd they do that? They've done it a few times so far, and I'm only like twenty minutes in.

Yeah I noticed that too. Maybe they didn't have the playboy issues when they were filming the movie, and then changed the cover digitally to match to the appropriate edition? I can understand then doing that with the march playboy of 2009, since they had to get the right cover but probably couldn't when they were shooting the movie, but I can't understand why they'd do that with the playboy from when they were kids.
