They HAVE to make a sequel to this game!

As a fan of the films I was waiting this game for a long time. Gathering the original cast was a brilliant idea. The script and dialogues of the game fits perfectly to the movies. I enjoyed this game so much, every part of it was fun. But I hated the fact that it has to end. Are there any news of a sequel to this game? I really want to see more of the old gang and where our rookie guy will be going. Hopefully if the sales and views are good it'll courage them to do sequels.

The only thing that I didn't like about the game so far is that they keep bringing up Dana Barrett as if she was hiding upstairs underneath Venkman's bed while Venkman was trying to hit on the new girl. Yeah, I'm a big Ghostbusters fan and I know she was Venkman's love interest but I just felt like they were over-mentioning her name.

If Ghostbusters III really happens, I'm fairly sure that someone will make a game out of it, and it will probably be weaker, because they want a new game to come out the same day the movie. That is, if the movie will be made.

What I want is a new The Real Ghostbusters videogame. With a licence like that, we'd get more zanier adventures. Actually, Ghostbusters the Videogame (PS3) felt like a mixture of the movies and the Real Ghostbusters... and now after also playing some GBTVG on ps2, all I want is a TRGB game.

I think that a sequel to the game is a great idea. I'd like to see the rookie return and receive a name & a speaking role (at least give him a small one.)

And I know that at the end the Ghostbusters offered him a job as a boss at a new 'buster location, but I think they can work out a way to keep him there (something like having to still keep him around because of all the ghost that got re-released.)

Nah, I wouldn't want the rookie to return. I'm actually glad he was offered that job it gives us a chance to create our own Ghostbuster and have our own nametag. I vote for Create-A-Ghostbuster mode who's with me?! lol

I say no only because then they would have to alter how they have the dialogue goes. Instead of directly speaking to you, they would sort of be talking to you offhandedly. Also, it would take away from the game's movie feel.

Plus, they wouldn't be hiring a new guy again because remember, they let the rookie go because he wasn't needed any more (apparently). Why would they hire yet another rookie? (oh yeah, they need him elsewhere. Don't pay too much attention to that bit.)

I remember reading somewhere that the company that made this game wanted to do a sequel.

According to the first article I read about this game in a magazine, I believe it said something to the effect of Vivendi had a deal to make a SERIES of Ghostbuster games.

By any means necessary.

Vigo was in the game, He was in the painting in the Ghostbusters HQ, which doesn't quite make any sense seeing as at the end of Ghostbusters 2 the painting had been changed to the ghostbusters holding baby Oscar. However talking to the painting made his appearence fully worthwhile :D

Since I imagine it might be difficult to get the actors back to voice a new game (one actor in particular, yes, you know who I'm talking about ;) ), I'm thinking that maybe it could be a good thing... if they make a second Ghostbusters game, it would be the perfect oportunity to give the player more freedom in the gameworld.

Don't get me wrong, the game is great, but it's severely linear. Most of it due to the fact that it had a movie-like story to tell, and couldn't allow you to freely move away from the established path. With a potential second game I'd like the developers to allow you to customize "your" ghostbuster (and why not, the other ghostbusters in your team), pick and choose missions (like in some of the lesser ghostbusters games in the past) that in the end build up to a coherent storyline... In other words you'd be controlling your own Ghostbusters franchise (something that has been hinted in the first movie, and again by Peter in the intro of the video game).

Have you looked at how difficult it was to even get this game made and then published? I'm all for wanting a sequel but sadly i think it wouldn't be half the game this was, and would probably be a little more difficult to get done. Well perhaps if that new movie comes out they might rush one out...

Someone elses idea here though sounded interesting to me, creating a game based on the Real Ghostbusters. I'm sure there's many of us here who remembered that series as children, it would certainly be fun to see it as a game... Perhaps not as good as a movie version but it will certainly be new.

They did. It's called the PS2 & Wii versions.

Why not set the game up where this one left off and start up a new franchise from scratch? You get to choose which city (LA, Chicago or....errr...Cincinatti) and get to build a new team (build your own characters and play up to 4 players at a time). Fresh experience and new adventures, and it'd still be possible to have the original voice cast return to offer advice/tips along the way. But ultimately it's on you to save your city, not as a fifth wheel.

I'd also like to have more standalone missions, not each mission building on the last for one big story. Maybe give it a GTA feel, more random and with more flexibility to explore.

i really hope they make a sequel to this and not a GB3 game. and a create-a-buster feature would be incredible, especially if they stick with your character not having any dialogue. who doesnt wanna see themselves as a gb? this game really did have the feel of what it would be like to be a rookie going on insane adventures with the original crew. cant wait for another one.

i thought this game was pretty crappy....sure for nostalgia reasons it was good to play as the a ghostbuster and see some familiar faces and characters...however you were limited in what you could do and how you play and the game was over very VERY QUICK...

The game certanly was no metal gear solid 4, no fallout 3, no GTA 4 or no elder scrolls of olivion 4

IN the end...i paid $6 instead of the retail $108 (in my country) and beat it hiring it over 2 days of casual play...not even trying to play hardcore at all

I do see any replay value in it at all....

A Real Ghostbusters video I'm all for to. I don't think it would be hard to get Welker,LaMarche,Hall(or Jones) and Coulier involved either. Sure they made the PS2 and Wii version look cartoony but it was nowhere near the RGB theme. Just hope the movie guys won't be sticklers about tie-ins, like they were with the animated show. I heard they didn't like that Maurice LaMarche's Egon sounded almost identical to Harold Ramis' Egon. What was great about last year's game were the weapons(stasis stream, shock blast etc), I hope they would allow that and the slime blower in the RGB game. The only weapons I remember from the RGB was some sort of proton gun and a ghost bomb. The RGB action figures had some neat weapons.

There was a rumor floating around that they're reworking Dan's Ghostbusters go to Hell storyline into the next Ghostbusters game and targeting a Halloween 2012 release. Which would put it out a month prior to the current target date for Ghostbusters 3 which is now being targeted for Thanksgiving 2012.

You do realise what's REALLY stopping a sequel getting made, right?

Ramis and Aykroyd would have to come up with another script!

Didn't I read somewhere they had quite a hard time writing the screenplay for this game?

Though, GOD, yes, I would love a sequel. Don't change a THING.

Keep everything. Mechanics, graphics, score, sound effects, just a brand new story! I'd love that.

reply

Guess we can forget about a sequel now........

a sequel would have been great since they seem to have enjoyed making it and it could have been it's own story throughout instead of a return of gozer plot.
