A lot of promise....

not realised in the first show, mainly I felt because the little girl (the daughter) was a very poor, and the plot about her Dad was a bit main stream and clunky. I'm not sure if this will work with exorcisms in terraced housing.

Martin Shaw brings a lot of presence to the role, and I think/hope the storyline with the obscure italian character (a devil) will take off. I was a big fan of Ultraviolet, made I think by the same guy, which was made in the best tradition of a spooky english mini-series - compelling story and low production values!

I just saw this first episode and I was very impressed. Real spooky moments and the mesmerising Martin Shaw!

Looking forward to the next one.

Yes but I wish Elyes Gabel's character hadn't been killed, atleast not so awfully. But I guess that wouldn't make for shocking tv though - but he's so innocent! : ( I guess that's the point too.

I agree a lot of promise.

I really loved it, I hope it continues as good as this.

I look forwards to seeing more as well. The first episodes are when the show is finding it's footing, and it usually only gets better after the first two or three. I'm looking forwards to seeing what will happen with the already started arc.

(Charlie, nice to see you here! Didn't know you liked this show. Are you a Martin Shaw fan as well?)

Ninja, check out Rick Warden - it may be him.
Warden has an impressive (TV) filmography on IMDb,
although his photograph looks a bit out of date.

The list includes Bonekickers, Hustle, and guess what-
the US movie "Dominion: Prequel to The Exorcist".

Also ROME. Almost any actor who has appeared in Rome
is a star as far as I'm concerned.

Would you be okay with exorcisms in a council flat? How about exorcisms in a three storey Georgian mansion set in 85 acres?

reply

oookkkkk,

A better way to make your point would be to, well, make it.

I know, it sounds simple, but some people DO struggle.

No need to get hostile and combative, I just was tickled with your post about "exorcisms in terraced houses" not working. I wondered what it was about terraced housing that you think precludes it from credible spiritual activity?

I'm not trying to get at you, let's just put the gun down and nobody gets hurt.

reply

I can't think about 'put the gun down...' now without thinking about that father ted episode with the spoon...

Sorry, i grabbed the wrong end of the stick. I just thought the exorcism sat around a kitchen table in a terraced house lacked tension and didn't seem, well, scary. I understand why the director/writer would want to show the possession in the context of an otherwise completely normal existence, but it didn't make me want to stop hanging my foot over the side of the bed when I was going to sleep.

If you see what I mean.

reply

Fair do's, I see what you mean. Glad you like Father Ted too. "Drink!"

Hi Man of Stars,

How are you?
Yes I am a Martin Shaw fan, well I am now after watching this show.

As for the Daily Mail brigade, in the words of Father Jacob, 'God spare us'.
