I'm not being sarcastic, I genuinely do like and applaud the posters on here for the restraint and the courtesy shown to others.

I have been on boards for the Da Vinci Code, Passion of the Christ (mainly after they first came out) and others and there is very little respect for others and very little courtesy - just a bunch of absolutely millitant Atheists calling Christians retards, stupid etc and the Christians calling them godless souls that are evil and need saving and will be going to hell ( I don't mean to generalise by saying "The Christians" but 99.9% of the debates on the internet are seemingly between Atheists and Christians).

I like how on here, even if people at large disagree with something, there is little namecalling ( I say little, because there is still some) and people do actually listen to what others are saying and respect the other viewpoint and respond back with restraint and why they disagree. Other boards there is little of that.

I wonder if it's because Apparitions is a British program and the others are American productions, and as such it shows the differences in the way the two sets of people interact with others. I don't want to seem as I'm needlessly bashing Americans - being married to an american (for my sins!) I know exactly the way they interact and talk with others who don't share their view.

I hope I'm making sense? I have seen some of what I'm talking about, but as I said earlier it's very mild to some other IMDB boards where a particular film or program has a religious content.

I know exactly what you mean. I have found the British boards (discussing British dramas, police dramas or fantasy programmes) to be very civilised compared to those other boards you talk about. I don't like to generalise, because there are also plenty of lovely and polite Americans, Canadians etc online, but I will generalise a bit and think it's down to the age and demographic and nationality of the posters on this board. No offence to anyone.

Apparitions is a UK show so the majority of viewers is homogeneous (in that they're mostly of the UK) and is a far smaller collective than those who have seen movies like Da Vinci Code and Passion of the Christ, both of which have been released globally, and thus have a much larger and even more diverse audience commenting on them.
