Really enjoyed this band back in the day - just a thought

I know there had to be rough expectations with such a meteoric rise to the top and the pressures to keep creating. The bitterness of members that left the band is understandable. I was truly wondering if they were going to be in the same room again (I could have fast-forwarded) so I was interested in what they all had to say. That said... many well-known bands have had members go off and do their own thing. It seemed to have happened fast and furious for the Go Go's but what would have been great to see back in the late 80s is them coming together again as "The Go Go's" and do their songs and perhaps the solo artist's songs. Having a setlist that included "Heaven is a place on Earth", "Mad About You", "Our Lips Are Sealed", "Rush Hour" (personal favorite) and the "hits" may have made for a profitable tour.

Just rambling, but the collective body of work is pretty damn good.

Is this a documentary film? Did they talk about the song "Johnny Are You Queer?" I only just learned a year or two ago that the Go-Go's were the first to perform that song (at a concert,) and it was written by the punk band Fear. (But their lyric was "you're a fucking queer."

The last time I was looking into this, they didn't have the remark that the Fear song was "Fetch Me Another Beer." It sounds odd to me that a song with that title would have a lyric "you're a fucking queer."

But admittedly I think the only Fear lyrics I could ever decipher were "I don't care about you - FUCK YOU!"

Chili, yes - it's a documentary film. Caught it on Hulu a couple nights ago. I don't recall them talking about "Johnny Are You Queer". I did hear a long time ago (way back in the 80s) that the Go-Go's performed that because in the 1983 movie Valley Girl that song is played at their prom where that dork in the pink tuxedo tries to kick Nicolas Cage's ass. The documentary does dive in pretty deep to their roots in the punk scene of L.A., so I'm not surprised that they all crossed paths.

I'm going to check that out, I really liked the Go-Go's. I also want to know if they talk about The Waitresses I thought they were great also.

I know Josie Cotton recorded "Johnny RUQ" in 1982, and I know the soundtrack is the Josie Cotton version. I don't remember much about the film.

Cool - if you liked the Go-Go's you'll enjoy it. I was a total metalhead from the 80s but I am also a musician so to me, a good song is, well... a good song. I've always gravitated towards hooks and catchy melodies. So, bands like The Go-Go's, Duran Duran and other "new wave" bands were really interesting to me. Most of the band has aged very well and it's cool to hear them talk about that crazy-fast rise to the top.
