HOF

just saw they Made it. Everyone in the documentary was bitching about them not being in there.

How deserving are they though? They only had like 3 albums. Don't get me wrong, I like them a lot, and think they might be deserving. I'm just raising the question.

The issue in the doc everyone pointed out was that they were the only all female group that played their own instruments & had 3 #1 songs on the Charts way back then.

reply

They were good songwriters too.

They didn't have any number one singles on the US Hot 100. We Got the Beat - their highest charting single - peaked at #2 in 1982. I'm not sure the band deserves a place in the HOF just because they played their own instruments. As much as I enjoy some of their music, the documentary over-egged their influence and importance. The band crashed and burned rapidly in the US after their debut album. Here in the UK, their success was almost non-existent, whereas Belinda Carlisle's solo career brought her multiple top 10 singles and albums. Her prominence as a solo artist introduced a lot of people to The Go-Go's hits.

The whole point of the HOF is that EVERYBODY gets in, eventually.
