Why did Christopher..

never tell the humans that he knew how to reactivate the ship? I know the humans despise the aliens but its because they believe these aliens are stupid creatures who can't think, communicate and would never leave their planet. So what it Christopher had told them, say, upon their arrival? I mean, he's intelligent, knows about science and apparently has the ability of communicating, maybe he could have developed a relationship with the humans? Like they could work together to reactivate the ship so the aliens would be off soon and both would be happy, and in return christopher could tell them more about the fluid, the weapons and stuff.. I understand what the director is trying to say in this film, but I somehow feel the situation could have been avoided if christopher had told the humans about it. Is this a plot hole?

Would really appreciate some help, thanks!

That could probably work in a perfect world, but as we know, the humans would have probably tried to capture him, imprison him, and force him to tell them all about how their technology works and how to replicate it. They wouldn't have just fixed up his ship and waved goodbye to them all.

Christopher is smart, and I imagine he knew that that would probably be the case. As far as we know, that very well could be what his people would have done if the situation had been reversed. He was probably being extremely cautious to see who this new race was and how they behaved.

Secondly, he didn't know our language or how to communicate, and that took some time. Based on how vastly different the languages are, it may have even taken a couple years. There was no one to translate or teach each other how our languages worked. By the time he learned to communicate, it was probably evident to him how humans were treating them, or he was getting the idea of what humans would do if they had access to his technology.

There's a lot of reasons why he would just keep his mouth shut at first and access the situation.
