Did Christopher really help Wikus in the end? OR really was going to, or was he just tricking Wikus.. Why would he care about a human, humans threat them like *beep*

I like to believe his moral values and intellect surpass humans and that he will be true to his word. An alien containment force 'helping' earth would be a great sequel in my book :)
shareI thought Wikus was a prick for knocking out Christopher after he learned it would take 3 years to humanize him again, leaving him to be caught by the hunters. The alien didn't lie, he could change him back and would do it, also it was Wikus's fault for spraying himself with the black goo.
