Sony Pictures Studios which falls under Sony Pictures Entertainment which falls under Sony Corporation of America is simply a subsidiary of Sony. That in itself means it is technically an American company as it is a separate legal entity of Sony.
As for QED International also being based here in LA (I live just blocks away from Sony Studios and drive by it all the time), yes it means it is an American movie.
