The ending completely messed it up

I would have given this movie a 9/10 if it wasn't for that ending where the main character went from being at least half human to a murdering psychopath. There was way too much action and the ending just didn't mean anything to the movie. It went from being a completely original sci-fi film to an ordinary action flick with that ending. 8/10

Really? That's funny I completely hated Wickus, even his weasel name and I wanted to break all of his teeth out, I thought he got everything he deserved and didn't even deserve to live as any species, he is a spineless, weak, characterless, amoral weasel and the ending in my opinion only slightly redeemed him.

Well even if you didn't like him they didn't have to make all of humanity evil and a big slaughterhouse. Why did it have to be so much killing and shooting at the end? It completely moved the focus away from the importance of the story and I just felt that it became an entirely different movie. Weasel, the only "good" human in the movie, became a psycho at the end, killing the other evil humans. It was just a complete mess.

Sorry Wickus, not Weasel, bloody autocorrect...

But I thought that, after all Wikus went through, and after receiving no support whatsoever, and actually being targeted for murder himself by the evil humans, it was only natural for his character to want to kill all responsible. Plus, his life was still being constantly threatened by those whom he killed at the end. So I was actually happy to see that he didn't despair at the prospect of becoming a prawn, but picked up arms and fought back.
Most humans would more likely shoot themselves in the face if they found out that they were going to turn into crab-like creatures, I think.

I have to say that if something like this happened in real life it wouldn't be Amnesty International in charge but companies like Haliburton and Lochheed Martin and while some of the characters in the film are exaggerated it isn't by much. Mercenaries and weapons manufacturers aren't known for their humanitarian bent so it's no stretch to portray them as evil because frankly, they are.

The ending where Wikus waves Christopher bye bye with a tear in his eye, as they leave on their space junk ship, was soooo cliched and corny.

I'm glad you recognized it! Although I made a small change from the original line.

They're my all-time favorite band. I've seen them in concert any number of times, starting with the Soap Opera tour. I love everything about them.
