Giant plot hole in the movie
The movie fails to factor in that, yes corporations have a lot of power but not as much as countries. If this actually happened US would be all over it. There is no way US would have let some puny private company take over the alien researching especially considering that dangerous alien weapons would be in their hands. US would have worked out some sorta deal with SA (money or arms or something) and transferred all the aliens to the a secure location away from prying eyes somewhere in the world. At the very least, NASA would have searched and dismantled every part of that spaceship and the prawns would have been extensively studied, even if the US couldnt move them somewhere. I am pessimist but I doubt the aliens would have been treated so badly. SA can get away with human right crimes(or should I say alien right crimes) but the US can not. Yes the US has a long history of human right crimes but it has always been heavily criticized. The HRC groups from all over the world would have been all over this and some sorta compromise would have been worked out. Also I am pretty sure NASA would have tried to help the aliens restart their spaceship if only to learn the secrets of space travel. I can believe everything in the movie but a private organization having full control over aliens is never gonna happen. If US wouldnt have stepped up, the EU or China or Russia or any other major country would have.
