How do you rank a series, when the quality changes over time? I really liked it, but now in mid-season 4 it's getting tiresome.

I am currently in the middle of re-watching the series and am in the middle of season three and some of those episodes are painfully dreadful to have to sit through.
The Brother Adrian arc was terribad. I actually found the second half of the season pretty decent.
shareI enjoyed wathing Season 1-4a when they came out but when I finished 4b-5 together everything seemed to dip in quality.
sharewhen it comes to long running shows you cna go two ways.
one is show fatigue that builds up over time, this often leads to fans getting bored, ratings tanking and show getting canceled. some people, like me, usually dont mind this, but most do, and thus most people stop watching.
Another way is radical change. such change in way the show goes is dangerous. Sometimes it suceeds (Buffy, Babylon 5), sometimes it fails (Heroes, Xena). when it suceeds it usually ends up being gloriuos thing to watch, as the characters you know are given a fresh setting to explore. but when it fails it usually fails spectacullary and often fans start a campaing of "pretend this season didnt happen".
