Why end when it was so good?

A show that runs for four seasons is bound to have its suckish moments, and I found my interest waning a bit sometimes in the fourth season. But Season 5 had some great writing, which makes me think that there was potentially more creative energy where that came from, which could have fuelled a bunch more episodes.

Was the show really insufficiently popular enough to warrant only six episodes to wrap up in a final season?

It seems they found a creative seam for Season 5 but that that it was cut short, resulting in too many questions about characters that could not be answered in just six episodes, such as what occurred with HG and Claudia's brother.

Oh well. I enjoyed this show from the start to the end, and I will remember it fondly.

I have not seen the show on SyFy, but if it suffered of the same extremely long season breaks like Eureka did, then this might have tributed to the show being cancelled at the end.

The ratings tanked. The last 6 shows averaged a .3 in the demo and a million viewers. Before it collapsed after 3.8 it was pulling a .8 in the demo and 2 1/4 million viewers. Simply stated the torture scenes in 3.8 killed off the audience.

Stukowski's torturing the regent killed the show? Never would have guessed that as SyFy had scenes like that in Stargate or Defiance.

Wrong torturing. It was Mrs Frederick's torturing of Sally that was the problem.

The main reason that I've heard online is that Warehouse 13 was the most expensive show on Syfy at the time. Yeah, there were some plotlines like Claudia's sister that could've been expanded upon but I'm glad the show got a proper ending.
