Gary Heidnik Or Robert Hansen?

I think some of you are getting the two serial killers confused when it comes to which one this is based on. To me this is the most similar to Gary Heidnik.

Heidnik was in Philadelphia which is known as the "City of Brotherly Love" and maybe some missed it I did catch it but I didnt take notes watching the film and I dont want to missquote someone but near the beginning of the film Cusak makes a comment along the lines of so much for brotherly love in the city or something like that.

Heidnik DID have some sick twisted obsession with having children with the women he enslaved.

Heidnik also fed at least one of his victims to his dog and it is also believed that he forced the women to partake in having a bite as well.

Heidnik also forced the women to turn against each other. One of the survivors actually was the one that electrocuted one of her fellow victims.

No there was no cop out to save his daughter.. that is made up. But for everyone saying that this is not based on true accounts because it really doesnt resemble Robert Hansen so much (And yes he was Alaska.) IMO you are right.. Its not Hansen at all but it IS very similar to Heidnik.

For more info on Heidnik here is a link that is so much better than the Crime Library info they actually interview a survivor who was with him for 4 months.

And to be fair... Heres more info on Robert Hansen.. Unfortunately there are lots of twisted freaks out there that seem to think they are original. I know Wikipedia says the movie was based on Hansen... I just dont agree. http://murderpedia.org/male.H/h/hansen-robert.htm

Gary Heidnik for sure.
I watched "The Factory" this summer on Netflix. Hey, I'm a school teacher and summers are long.

Tonight, I'm about 10 mins. in to a show on hulu about Gary Heidnik and I knew right off that "The Factory" had to be based on him.

definitely Heidnik. This story was very close to the Gary Heidnik case in Philadelphia many years ago and nothing like Robert Hanson.
Heidnik kept indigent women locked up in his cellar to make babies. He kept them chained, threw them in a hole in the ground when they were bad, but there was no water in it. Fed them scraps, even human flesh after 1 of them died. About the only difference was all the women were black.
Hanson was a baker and family man who picked up women then flew them to the Alaska
tundra and hunted them down.
