Why is everyone thinking Kelsey got away with it. She really messed up in the end. She made that phone call to Abby and left a recording on the answering machine. Abby played it back many times because she's wondering why she heard a baby in the background. She knows there are missing babies out there, and that Kelsey can't have any.
Abby clearly has inherited her dad's aggresive police manner and will put 2 and 2 together. It's only a matter of time before that fool is caught.
[SPOILERS INCLUDED. THOSE WHO HAVEN'T SEEN THIS FILM YET SHOULD NOT READ THIS.]
Agreed. [Just watched this last night.] So, I'm wondering, do you think there needs to be a sequel? I'd like there to be a sequel just so we can see Abby have Kelsey put away for kidnapping those babies, aiding that freakshow & killing Abby's Dad (John Cusack).
I'm guessing most people would say there doesn't need to be a sequel, though.
This movie wasn't that great. I doubt it could produce a sequel, but worse movies have. I would watch it just to see Kelsey get hers. I could see the movie revolving around Abby using her assertivness to convince the police of Kelsey's crime.
Agreed. I'd like to see a sequel to see Abby get revenge on Kelsey. [Not just for herself but for justice/society in general.]
I kinda saw the reversal (surprise) of the movie coming. When Kelsey made that second call. I was wondering, "WHO is she calling?". I think the movie telegraphed the surprise which renders the surprise meaningless. I put the mysterious call together with the mysterious flashback to "Daddy's" drive & the unrevealed hitchhiker (or 1st victim).
Someone said you'd have to be a genius to have predicted the surprise but I'm no genius. Maybe I'm just pessimistic.
I think it might make people curious but not enough to reopen the investigation. Kelsey could easily explain she was at a restaurant or gas station and there was someone with a baby there. They got the kidnapper/killer as well as the known accomplis.
