I always thought this was a bad idea. Sequel at all, Gaga, musical, only made me prepare for the worst.
All in all, meh. I don't think it deserves all the hate it's getting. I think people were disappointed because the dudebros wanted another nihilistic flick a la Travis Bickle.
But I can't say it was good either. It definitely had a few intriguing moments and interesting set pieces. I felt like I could see it working as a standalone graphic novel.
But overall, I was bored, the pace was slow, and I don't think I went more than 20 minutes without checking the time. I was ready to leave.
It met my expectations in that they were low.
But throughout, I kept finding myself feeling it was akin to Halloween Ends, in that I could see what it was trying to do, it was trying to go for something more elevated, and I appreciate that, it just didn't land.
