drowning scene at the waterfall makes no sense

how the hell would irving know the moment helly got turned back? i hate irrational plots like this. it would make more sense for milcheck to turn irving back to his outie because he'll stop drowning her immediately.

reply

Because she ordered Milchick to do it and Irving saw the confusion on her face?

reply

from the perspective of milchick, there is no guarantee that irving would let her go if he turned her outie back. it wouldnt make sense for milchick to flip her and not irving because one guarantees that he'll stop.

I mean, Milchick's boss (or his boss's daughter) is being drowned in front of him and he receives direct order to flip her. He would have done it even without the order, because it was the most sensible thing to do, given that Irving has been increasingly unhinged from his perspective. It is not about guarantees, but about improving the chances of a good outcome. Of course, we know that Irving was only bluffing and he would have never drowned her, but Milchick did not know this.

The scene is perfectly sensible. Irving bluffed and won. There are many other non-sensical (as of now) things about this show, that make it reek of Lost, but there was nothing wrong with this particular scene. It is a pretty standard scene, that could be seen in many movies and shows and we knew how it will end.

so you're saying changing irving to his outie wouldnt stop him from drowning a woman he never met?

"The scene is perfectly sensible." am i talking to a retard?

reply

It was about removing Helly's innie block, not about flipping Irving, which we don't know if is even possible (maybe it is). Changing to Irving's outie (who may know that she is an Egan) is an alternative solution with unknown consequences (Irving outie being even more unhinged than his innie). Milchik followed Irving's request and Helly's direct order - the most rational thing to do. Why do anything else? Besides, if they switched to Irving's outie, then you would be asking exactly the same questions.

I see that you are of the kind of people who struggle to comprehend trivial situations or become obsessed with minor details irrelevant to the big picture. If you have further questions, I'm available to answer them.

She probably went from fighting back to nothing once she changed.
