wow... i doubt it's going to get that much oscar recognition. the only reason i say it might be up for best picture this year is because for some god awful reason they're deciding to nominate ten movies this year instead of five... if it were down to five, there is no way in hell this movie would ever be nominated for that.

supporting actress... i highly doubt that. she was good, but not oscar good.

screenplay... this movie hardly has enough substance to be nominated for that. most of it was just a lot of montages of hippies messing around.

i doubt it will be nominated for anything. im pretty sure of this, actually. i dont know why on earth you have so much confidence in it...or, rather, why these critics you included in your post do..

This movie is just so poorly put together... the themes were predictable, there were too many unnecesary characters and there wasn't much character development. The only realistic drug part was at the end, when his depth perception was off when staring at the concert. The other acid trip parts were over-exaggerated- acid doesn't really do that.. altho i have to say i enjoyed the artwork moving and all the colors during his acid trip in the van

Well, good luck with your prognostications. I loved this film (saw it thrice, then had a great time seeing the "extras" and favorites scenes on the DVD) but, I don't think it will be nom'd for any OScars, for the reason that Antonia_I stated, that there hasn't been any audible "Industry buzz" about the film since it died at the BO (which is really sad, actually)

In terms of Oscar noms, it is my opinion that the film "Precious, based on the novel 'Push' by Sapphire" will be nom'd for something (or a few things), come Oscar time, and that might well be for the comedian Mo'Nique in the Performance by an actress in a supporting role category, not to mention Gabby Sidibe in the Lead, although Mo'Nique outshone her, by a hair.

I'd like to see it receive a musical score nomination and hear some music from the film! I did enjoy it!

I do believe Imelda Staunton (Sonia) will recieve a Best Supporting Actress nomination. We disliked or hated her portrayal so much that it demonstarted what a great actress she is.
