Evils spirits, aka demons, are not nice and pleasant, but intrinsically evil. Raimi illustrates this in his overdone way with the message driven home: Be careful how you treat people because you'll reap accordingly, especially those humbly begging for mercy (and, even more so, those who might possess arcane powers).
