I can’t stop thinking about how nasty, mean spirited and spiteful this movie is

And then I see the behind the scenes of the actress getting works dumped on her and stuff. I wonder if this was some sort of fetish material for Sam Raimi. Sick movie

It contains nasty scenes, no doubt, but it is a horror movie about a driven young woman who disregards compassion for a poor old woman due to selfish ambition, which results in her being cursed with an evil spirit released upon her, called lamia. Evils spirits, aka demons, are not nice and pleasant, but intrinsically evil. Raimi illustrates this in his overdone way with the message driven home: Be careful how you treat people because you'll reap accordingly, especially those humbly begging for mercy (and, even more so, those who might possess arcane powers).

Poor old woman? Lmao
Lmao, if you think this movie has a message. Whatever message it has is bullshit. It is just nasty, mean spirited , supernatural torture porn.

Was the Gypsy woman poor and old or not? Obviously yes. How pointing that out is funny to you is a mystery. (Keep in mind that Christine didn't know she wielded arcane power until after she refused compassion and disrespected her at the bank even though the old woman literally begged for another extension).

Lmao, if you think this movie has a message.

You clearly didn't appreciate what the movie had to offer, and that's your prerogative (it's an unpleasant flick, I get it), but the film does have a message amidst its exaggerated comic book horror. A pretty glaring one on the surface along with interesting details if you go a little deeper.

Agreed. And the gypsy woman was the typical entitled crone. I've met her kind.

Seeing how rattled you are by this movie is making me re-think PG-13 horror. I was an edgelord that thought that PG-13 horror was soft but after seeing your posts I'm not so sure now. Extreme gore isn't always necessary for shocks.
