Thinking about what Rex Blau said… Tall? Sean Penn is 1.72 m.

Does it mean he’s portraying William Holden, a much taller man at 1.80 m?

I know that. But it's made clear after several clues that he may be the actual Wiiliam Holdem, although the director made it so obscure to avoid legal trouble. The 'tall' adjective would be one more clue

Don't see why there would be legal trouble. Holden died many years ago. Decades.
I think the reference was to suggest a Holden *type*, not the actual Holden.
