Long Island Filming Locations

None of the New Jersey locations seen in the first 15 minutes of the movie were actually filmed in New Jersey (except for the tv station interior). Most, if not all, of them were filmed on Long Island, New York. At the time of the film's release, the local Long Island newspaper ran an article listing the locations.

I thought some people might enjoy reading it, especially since I updated it with DVD runtimes, additional information, and a location that wasn't included in the original article. I used to live at the apartment complex where Becky lives at the beginning of the movie, and my mom used to do the laundry at the laundromat Becky uses in the movie. The Wendy's seen outside the window in the opening scene is one I used to frequent quite often, too.

This article, and the use of the L.I. locations, is what prompted me to actually watch the movie. I don't think that I ever would have sought it out, otherwise.

Most of "Morning Glory" was shot in Manhattan, with familiar exteriors along Sixth Avenue and on 42nd Street and interiors primarily at Metropolis Studios in East Harlem. But a great many locales were on Long Island. Here's a rundown of where and what scene — courtesy of director Roger Michell.
