The film is very underwhelming....the whole time I was waiting for a climax that never came. The movie ended in nothing. I dont understand how some great actors would agree to do this???

It was cute, funny and probably none of them are arrogant pricks who feel it's beneath them to be in a movie that isn't Oscar bait.
They may like working with each other and, on top of it, got paid ridiculous amount of money. Who knows?
It wasn't a crap fest like most lesser films and I had fun watching it.
Simply put: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Ford probably realized his "superstar" status is slipping; Keaton realized actresses her age don't get offered all that many starring roles, and McAdams figured a spunky ingenue-on-the-ladder-of-success (more like Mary Tyler Least in this case) role might look good on her CV.
