Her parents telling her to give up on her dreams...

Even though she was quite young. Seemed like the character was in her 20's. So why then was her mom already telling her to give up on her dreams even though she was working her way up.

I couldn't understand that either. Especially after she just lost a job through no fault of her own.

Some parents are like that. Not everyone is the same. It makes the heroine overcoming everything that much more satisfying. When creating a story you need obstacles for the characters
