Always easy to pick up on more, right?

Neat how at the end of the original and this one, similar body count. The original had Kenny outside, and inside was a young female victim, and the two killers. In this one, same, just no Kenny, and gender-swap a killer. Also at the end of the first, there were five survivors in the house, this one had six. It also has the second-lowest body count in the series, which I like. Can do suspense with a lower body count too, especially with this many characters.

Also, not just fan culture, but I feel like this one argues a motive of obsession for the sake of obsession.
