Saw it again today. Fun, I was the only one at the screening.

My general opinion of it stays the same, and I made a different post the first time I saw it. But thought of some things this time around.

It's weird that they state the most recent iteration in the Stab series is #8. Because as of Scream 4, there are 7 Stab movies. So the events of #4 presumably would've been turned into Stab 8. And pretty quickly too, whereas in the movie, it sounds like Stab 8 was fairly recent. They also state Sidney isn't in #8. So it couldn't really be based on 4. So either the filmmakers made a math glitch here we're supposed to ignore, or it's a dis at #4 and we're supposed to think Stab just didn't do that one, in favor of waiting to do another entry that wasn't even based on real events. Or I'm over-thinking.

Ridiculous that Sidney and Gale get to Woodsboro so quickly, from New York for the latter, but Sam and Tara's mom just doesn't show up. I know that's just because it worked better for the story, but dang.

They did a good job of establishing characters so that we didn't have someone like Kate in #4, where she was "important" and died near the end, but only in her second scene.

Like in Scream 4, as well as the original Halloween II, ridiculous how empty that hospital seems to be.

Clever that it sounds like Sidney has multiple daughters, but we didn't even hear their names. So in another 10-20 years, their characters can become series leads, but in their first appearance, we won't learn their connection for a bit, then surprise! So one of them will probably be a killer. They'll orchestrate it like Jill in order to become the new Sidney.

Mindy and Chad will follow in Randy's footsteps and appear in #6 and one of them will die. Most likely Chad, since Randy was male. And this way they don't kill a mixed-raced LGBT girl, because they'll want to keep her around a while. And she was definitely much more entertaining with all her quips. And how did Mindy not look behind her sooner?

When Sidney and Gale are talking "After this one, no more books, no more movies." I wonder if they'd have the power to enforce it and not let there be more? Sure, Gale can't be forced to write a book, but if they had the power to not allow any more Stab movies, seems they would've/should've a long time ago.

Amber and Richie kept calling each other pet names after their reveal. So are we supposed to assume they're an item? Because they don't kiss or anything, but the pet names seem to indicate. Weird to throw that in the mix. I guess their shared obsession could push them to it and help them trust each other more. But still, that's likely a statutory kind of situation. Not that killers would likely care, just pointing it out. And I wonder which one was the mastermind? In the other killer pairings it seems a bit more clear. Probably Amber.

Amber's death was cool but lame. Because if you're burning, you're not going to just pass out, and continue to burn that long and survive, and then wake up and have the immediate wherewithal to play dead.

Loomis and Carpenter. Sam and Tara's mom needs to quit getting with guys with horror movie names.

Sam's age. It's stated a few times she left home at 18. And at one point she says she left 5 years ago. But it's the 25th anniversary of the original massacre. So she was already alive at that point.

There's a youtube link in the movie about whether or not Stu's alive. I know it's just an Easter egg not likely meant to be taken seriously. But I hope these movies never go that route. It'd be lame. His death seems pretty definite. And to have him still be alive, in prison as is often suggested, just wouldn't work. Because ever since the original, it's assumed he's dead, just by their dialogue. If he was alive and in prison, they would know, that's not something that would be kept secret from them. And if he's secretly somehow alive and not in prison, why would he wait so long?

When Dewey is watching Gale on TV she makes a comment about "pros and cons of reuniting with old friends." Funny line given the Friends reunion last spring.

Wonder why that one deputy was in the closing credits? I don't even remember him saying or doing much. There was another that was more memorable and not in the credits. With a picture I mean. Weird but whatever.

Also, though it'd be terrible because it'd be so out there and feel different. I think it could be cool if they do an entry where the main target is Tori Spelling, as herself, because that's who Ghostface decides to target this time, and very meta ;)
