Is like Saw is impossible to make sequel after sequel without ending up being a parody

Freddy, Jason, Hellraiser, and even Chucky I can understand the infinite sequels, they are supernatural characters, but how many serial killers can be in your life without being fucking ridiculous?

Going by on the lifespan of the Halloween franchise we have another 15 or so years. It'll get stagnant for a decade just like Rob Zombie's films did and then we'll have Neve Campbell come back when she's in her 60's and fight off another round of Ghostface wannabes.
