shareAny idea what make of phone Shane uses in the movie ???????????
shareouter look is close to a nokia 8800 arte (sapphire/carbon/gold) but the buttonless touchpad looks like some samsung u900 .. it's just some dummy where they do after effects magic on
shareIt's a Nokia Aeon
shareThe phone is not a Nokia, it is a new phone developed specifically for the film, known by its technical name the GZT-650. It is currently under development and features a transparent screen and all touch screens.
shareSeen the transparent phone here - http://tech.uk.msn.com/features/gallery.aspx?cp-documentid=14251544&imageindex=4
but also looks like the alleged in production Nokia Aeon
The phone in the movie had transparent screen, not see-thru buttons like the one in the photo link.
They probably had reasons to not use a recognizably real phone in the movie.
Eriktek,
Great concept phone and good CG work, should be proposed to one of the phone makers( LG, Samsung etc) where you get the ideas from??
The phone is a piece of clear plastic, prop. I'm the AE Compositor that composited an animation of buttons and animated them onto the prop. The phone's controls materialize when you swipe your thumb over the phone. The job in itself was quite a challenge and the CG jerk that hired me never paid me!
shareEriktek,
You did a great job, but I'm curious as to why they didn't use a standard phone (iPhone, Blackberry, etc...). The phone didn't need to do anything but receive an SMS.
By having a non-existing phone that needed CG, it leads the audience to think maybe this phone was sent from someone in the future. It seemed like a needless distraction from the plot of the movie.
you actually considered a time-travel twist? wow thats low. i mean they were giving you visual clues throughout the first acts that he is being surveilled all the time and the communication is text-only, so it has to be some supercomputer. this isnt hindsight bias, i havent even finished the movie yet :P
shareeriktek - no you're not ;)
shareprobably some designers idea of the new iPhone. in any event, like the Hoverboard, it surely doesn't exist.
shareIt¨s a nokia aeon... omg why are you contradicting it...

It's a FC/1.21. It is FINALLY going to be released to the public in Spring 2014. It will be marketed under the trade name "Flux Capacitor", and it's purported to deliver "1.21 gigawatts of talk power". The manufacturer's only caveat is to NOT use the phone while "traveling at 88 miles per hour."
