Cincinnati, Ohio References

I was interested in this movie since we heard about it in the news when George Clooney and Co. were in Cincinnati to film it. I know from watching the DVD with the commentary that some scenes were filmed in Michigan and LA. I was more attracted to the film to watch out for the local landmarks, etc.

Here are some that come to mind:
* Miami University, in Oxford, Ohio, northwest of Cincinnati
* "Are you a Bearcat?" in reference to the University of Cincinnati mascot
* Beginning of the scene with Governor and Mrs. Morris - scenes of highway in Northern Kentucky
* Reference to The Millenium, a hotel in downtown Cincinnati
* Shots of the famous yellow "Big Mac" bridge, which crosses over from Cincinnati into Newport, Kentucky
* When Stephen picks Molly up to take her to the clinic, they drive across the blue Roebling Suspension Bridge (called the "singing bridge" in the audio commentary because it's metal and hums as you drive over it
* When Steven meets Tom Duffy in the "Head First" bar, you see the Cincinnati Bengals team logo in the background. Head First is located directly across from the Cincinnati Reds baseball stadium and refers to how Pete Rose would slide. Ironically, Paul Giamatti's father is the late Bart Giamatti, who as baseball commissioner imposed the lifetime ban on Pete Rose for betting on baseball.
* Shots of Xavier University at the end of the film.
* Local 12, Channel 19 WXIX, Channel 9, and News 5 TV crews.

What else is there?

I thought one of the scenes was filmed in the Perkins restaurant just across the bridge in Kentucky.

It's funny that when Gosling picks her up at the hotel and you can see the 471 bridge right behind them, he then goes clear over to Covington and the Roebling bridge to get to Oakley/Hyde Park. That bridge takes you right into downtown between PBS and Great American Ballpark, where as taking the on ramp to 471 which the camera would have been able to see had it panned to the left a bit would have gotten them to Oakley in less than 10 minutes. Going over to the Roebling then into downtown and working their way to Fort Washington Way and then I-71 would have added like 15 minutes to the trip.

Of course, that's a really great shot of the city coming over that bridge so I can understand why they did it.

And just to add to your list, Great American Ballpark was seen briefly during the scene at Head First; and definitely a shot of the old Lunken terminal when they get on the private jet to Kent State

Head First (which recently just closed) is actually across from the Bengal's home of Paul Brown Stadium, and this is the stadium seen in the film. The Reds' stadium is a few blocks east.
