could a five year old...??? (SPOILER)

discharge a shotgun without getting injured?

That’s what I’m wondering. The gun looked like a big long shot gun which requires you to rest the butt of the gun on your shoulder. Then there is a good reach to aim and pull the trigger. She could have just pulled it I guess and by chance it hit him. But the recoil should have thrown her and possibly hurt her

She had a red mark on her face where the butt of the gun supposedly hit her as incredulous as it was. I still liked it though.

That was why she was knocked back and had a bruise on her face

i think she would have needed serious medical attention and the cops would have figured out who did the shooting.

That’s what I thought, but they probably didn’t want to believe it like everyone else before you ya know. The idea of an adult killing a cop (who had been threatening them on the phone) is more believable than a five year old holding and shooting a shotgun the size of her. Also remember the dialogue between Ruth and Katie right before she stepped out of the diner? Ruth had said “I’m sorry for making you do that” and Katie said “do what?” So the kickback on the shotgun might have damaged her memory and that’s why she didn’t remember. And it seemed like the shotgun did hit her and hurt her physically because it seemed like when Ruth picked Katie up she was unconscious, and I also believe partially that was why Katie was screaming when Ruth carried her out. She might have been in pain as well as traumatised by the whole situation. Regardless of these little details it was a great movie with a great twist and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
