This really surprised me. I felt awful for her the entire movie, Dean was completely unsympathetic.
I totally agree that it was both of them, they didn't know how to talk to each other and be together anymore, but I felt like this was more on Dean than Cindy. He was unmotivated, immature and emotionally abusive. She couldn't open her mouth without him twisting her words and shutting her down. And the drinking and the constant pestering for sex without any intimacy made my skin craw. He just made me cringe, he couldn't relate to his wife at all.
What the FAQ do you mean by "unmotivated"? His motivation was there allright : he painted homes for a LIVING. He didn't just loiter around parks all day or relied on welfare.
...what the FAQ do you also mean by "immature"? You don't mean the instance that he played with his KID at breakfast time, in order to make her eat - do you?
By the way, you don't happen to mean "emotionally abusive", when that dumb blonde bitch of his let the door open and the dog got killed, and he told her off about it, do you? Because he's been asking about it TOO MANY TIMES, and the bitch apparently just wouldn't take responsibility.
As for "word twisting", name ONE. And we'll talk about it.
"Shutting her down"? If she was worth being shut down in order to listen up and do simple but vital crap like closing the god-damn aforementioned door, then he did best.
Drinking? You mean drinking BEER at work. Work like house painting. Jesus.
...pestering for sex? Well. That prick Bobby served her well coming inside her, if what she got from Dean was "pestering". Because unlike the first mofo, Dean wanted her to PARTICIPATE into sex-engaging. He was only simply trying too hard to amend their relationship with love-making. He didn't simply want to hump her. He did realize that she didn't want him - but he also knew that withdrawal would only make things worse between them. He is actually a tragic figure, "for trying too hard"...
The only thing you are entitled to blame Dean for, is that he wasn't wise enough to kick that dumb bitch in the butt way sooner than that and let her deal with her crap before losing his self over it.
Washcloths, I agree with you, I don't see how people think he was in the wrong, I have recently broken up with a partner who was emotionally empty and inconsiderate of my needs and that of our children and I no longer feel any love for him or any intimacy but that is because I destroyed the intimacy as I no longer had the same feelings, that is what Cindy did, she didn't know how to be intimate and I think her promiscuity from an early age indicates this, so the fact that she was intimate with Dean initially made her believe she loved him, but I think she got tired of being emotionally committed and all that comes with it!
