Who’s the Guy With the Sick Child?

And what part does he play in all of this? They’ve shown him in a couple of episodes now with his wife and sick daughter but I don’t know why he’s being shown and who he is and what is he supposed to do, what part he has to play in the story. Have to imagine they’re showing him for a reason I just wish I knew what it was.

I believe he's going to be Hugh Hammer, one of the "dragoseeds" (non-Targaryen dragon riders)

I think this is right, since I believe Hugh Hammer was a blacksmith (name checks out).
