It feels like they didn't think there'd be more than one season

So they crammed as much as possible into 10 episodes.
As a result we've missed a lot of character development.

I wanted to see the princess grow and mature. I wanted to see how her former lover became a bitter asshole. I wanted to see how the Clubfoot wormed his way into power.
I wanted to care about Daemon's wife but we saw her for 2 minutes as a child and there was maybe 5-7 minutes with Daemon... And then she tragically dies. But why should we care?

So many good stories wasted while the plot is galloping on... It's a shame.

There's like 1000 book pages and 300 years worth of stuff in the source material. They are only showing things that are relevant to the dance of dragons. There is 1 more time jump and should be none in season 2.

I understand that. That's not what I'm talking about here.
The change of actresses should have happened in the next season. IMO.

It feels like they are trying to tell this from a purely historic point of view. Only things that would stand out in history are discussed or really shown. If that is the model they are going through (and I'm only guessing that it is). It's an interesting choice. It forgoes the normal character development, and frankly paints each character in a much harsher light.

I give it some credit though, I can't remember a show I stuck with this long where I literally hated every character on the screen. To be clear, I don't hate any of the actors, just the charcters they play.

I have seen some people say it is due to the gray characters that none of the charcters are likable, but I don't believe that. Some of the best loved charcters in movies and books are gray characters.
