He's a stand-up comedian who also incorporates his art and music abilities into his act.
His style is deadpan. If you're familiar with Mitch Hedberg, it is similar to that, although with less one-liners.

You should watch one of his specials. From the comedy central ads, it appears that one will be on this weekend for the stand-up showdown thing. Or you could listen to his CD These are Jokes.

Actually... I did make it sound worst than it really was. He was funny, sure. But not THAT funny. There were some bits that made me chuckle but I wouldn't call him "the future of comedy" - that'd be too much love.

I think this show is really great so far. Comedic genius, actually. Really smart humor.. Sadly that doesn't always work too well on the general public (because of the "smart" part). Here's to hoping it lasts a while!

I agree. I think Demetri Martin is really funny, but I'm just not sure about this show. I just saw the first one and I'm kind of indifferent towards it. I think that Comedy Central's all out advertising blitz on their network may have soured me a little, but I'll give it a another shot next week.

As far as I know, both Mitch and Demitri are totally original. Unlike Dane Cook, who has been known (and proven) to have stolen from Demitri, and Louis CK, and likely other comedians.

As a fan of both, and many comics, I can say from what I've seen he's never stolen a single joke from anyone.

Oh yeah, Mencia is another one! All the same, I still love Mencia AND Dane Cook, for the most part. I though Mencia's most recent special was really good. But he stole from freakin Bill Cosby, and that looses you a LOT of respect in my book.
Man, I wish I could be a stand-up comic.. it's kind of a dream of mine.. :-P
i like the one demetri stand up i saw...the show was so-so though, i;ll give it another shot
