Did Lt. Jackson's son died or he was just mad because of the accident ?

just watched it and i dont think his son died, but i dont think u can rule it out either but chances are hed take some time off if he did. I just think all around he was a bad guy who was bent on power, and his sons accident was just adding to it, sorta the straw that broke the camels back.

overall...awesome movie, very well done and cant wait to show my buddies it, hope this film gets a little more recognition

I believe his son lived but as the previous poster pointed out, this was the straw that broke the camels back.
I saw it a mile away being that he {Jackson} was a very volotile character.. One minute loving his son and caring for his well being, the next minute being a complete sadist. While watching the scene as his son was wheeled into the hospital I had said to my friend "This is it, he's gonna break and kill someone".

And I was right in a sense. The man could not take any more of the "filth" that he had grown accustomed to and took matters into his own hands, which coincidently became his undoing.

Great film btw, wasn't expecting it to be so good.

Thanx for Agreeing with me!!! And I didnt think this would be so good as well mainly because it seemed to be direct to dvd but I realized it wasnt just a really small release in theaters. I think/hope it may get a small cult following on dvd. And Stephen Dorff...GIVE THIS GUY MORE SERIOUS AND GOOD ROLES HES AWESOME!!!!

Just watched this and I enjoyed it very much. Wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. Good performances all around. Especially by Harold Perrineau as Lt. Jackson.

How did Jackson get Hepatitis A?? They said something about "gas" ?? Does anyone know?

I believe it was mentioned that 5 years prior one of the inmates threw feces and urine into his face. I assume some got into his mouth and that's how he got the Hepatitis.

i saw a documentary on san quentin prison where the prisons were saying "gassing" is when they make a "liquid cocktail" and chuuck it at the guards - where liquids could mean anything, but mostly urine and feaces. Apparantly they also do things like crush lightbulbs and mix them in so when the victim wipes it off his face it cuts the skin and mixes with the blood.
