Wasn't expecting that ending Spoilers

Not sure if the movie intentionally tried to drive you into thinking he would join the Brotherhood, but I figured he would have joined the gain, get tattooed up and began killing people while getting a life sentence. BTW wasn't this based on a true story? Because a few years ago I heard a story about jailers placing bets on which inmates would win in a fight. Not sure if that is just a common problem in jails or if this movie was based on that one incident. Anyway, I am sure he would be a different person after experiencing those things in prison which would eventually lead to he and his fiancee splitting up.

I didn't expect the exact ending but I kind of felt where it was leading. LT Jackson was the main bad guy, Wade was either the Hero or the person needing to be saved. John Smith was the wise mentor that helped John Smith and in the end he died on his own terms while taking out the bad buy.
