Um... Bodhi PBSurfing, this is NOT about anyone including politicians giving a crap about ME or any one specific person I am talking about the general concept of justice. If an obvious injustice has been done why wouldn't a governor use his pardoning powers? What is the point of having such an ability at all if you will never use it not even when most appropriate? Are you telling me that if you lived in the fictional world of this movie, or the real world but a similarly unfair situation AND knew about it, maybe from media reports or protests you would not pardon the person?? I sure as hell would. In fact if I was governor in the fictional world of this movie not only would I have pardoned that guy but I would have apologized to him and his family on behalf of the state and awarded him some compensation money which would come out of the state coffers to make rebuilding his life easier, then I would work on getting state laws changed so that we could have a law similar to the "castle" law in Texas or the "stand your ground" law in Florida.
This movie was technically fiction but I bet stuff every bit as unjust as this (or maybe even more so) happens every day in our nation, I love that liberty and JUSTICE for all bullcrap in the pledge of alliegence. The guy in this movie sure as hell did not get justice.
And are you implying that all politicians are psychopaths or power hungry sociopaths? that NO politicians are genuinely good people who want to make the world a better place? That is certainly true for SOME maybe even MOST but I refuse to believe ALL. What about those 3rd party candidates like Green party or Peace and Freedom party?
