Gets the fear right
First off, it's a great movie in all aspects. On the 12th (or so) viewing I think I can at least kind of tell ya why I think so.
Family! Its all that matters. Enough said.
The terror of losing all control of anything you do. The first time I was locked up I felt just what he so accurately portrayed. The director nailed the emotion. Flat out fear and hopelessness. Weakness too, I guess - there is nothing at all you can do.
Then there's the fear outside the holding cell, or in the common areas. Everyone is looking out for themselves because everyone is looking out for themselves.
In my troubled youth I was in jail 5 times - 3 of those times were for 90 days plus and that's just in jail - never went to prison but I can't imagine it being more "liberating" or less frightening.
Scary movie because it is so accurate based on my experiences. And really - I haven't been back because of this - family is everything.
It's my RIGHT to offend you!!!
