That's pretty much what it was. They could have just as easily and just as effectively shot that scene without any nudity.

the metal detector went off, they have to protect staff, she could of stabbed a CO, some inmates do get "contact" rec time with their families. So they can't break protocol.
I thought it was an attempt to show the homosexuality of that particular female guard... In real life strip searches require two searchers to be present... One to search and another to witness. This is because strips earches are not taped.

i thought it might or might not have lesbian connotations, but rather more to the point of furthering the theme of the guards having power over all aspects of the imates, and anyone who comes to see them to.
i thought it was ironic that he asked her what was the matter, and she brushed it off, but got all kinds of angry when he wouldn't tell her of the indignities HE was suffering at the hands of the guards, and other inmates.
I think it was to show how demoralizing the prison system is, both to the inmates and the families as well.

this is due to the secirty of the prison
example of why a no contact vistor could be subject to a search
vistor would bring in contraband and stash in somewhere in that room
and later when it is cleaned up an inmate can pick up the package
what do you think they hire out cleaners to clean the prison with all that cheap

along with watches drugs and other items
once saw a lady throw away baby dipers every weekend for a year in the front entrance filled with tobacco and drugs
and then was picked up by an inmate till one day a co
thought that was odd that she didnt have a baby
she was aressted and about 90 days later she was in the same prison on the womens side serving 5 years
