7.7?!
I don't usually post before I see a movie (I'm going to check this out), but how the hell does a direct to DVD movie with Stephen Dorff and Val Kilmer have a 7.7 out of 30,000 votes?!?
Is it that good?

Yes it is one awesome movie.
shareI was wondering the same think. Clicked on it expecting it to be in the 4-5 range, did not expect 7.6. I might actually have to see this now.
shareExcellent movie, picked it up a couple years ago not see'ing it yet and was blown away.
sharenot a bad movie but very forgettable

Stephen Dorff did great, but I gave it 8/10 just for the performance of Mr. Kilmer (and I'm not a big fan of Kilmer)
He was simply amazing in his role.

No it's not but it shows tough guys playing heroes and some guys are suckers for the Godfather thing.

OP I agree and it was not really worth it. I DVR'ed it so thankfully I paid nothing and could fast forward through all the cliche dialogue between Dorff and his girlfriend. The whole movie is cliched and the guard dialogue is just cheesy and not real.
I have never been to prison but I was a psych major and studied sociology as well as seeing probably every episode of "Lockup" meaning something like 100 hours of prison interviews and real footage of prison. Fights happen, and some other stuff, but it doesnt happen like this movie portrays.
Basically if you like cliched bad action movies, you might like this movie. I gave it a 4 and it is absolutely not worth a 7.6 rating. It was not very good. Dorff was OK, the girlfriend character was completely cheesy and could have been played by anyone/taken out completely without missing anything, and Val Kilmer's character had a few interesting lines, but watching one authentic inmate talk on lockup raw is more real and more interseting then everything Val Kilmers character said or did in this 90 minute movie. Basically any episode of "Lockup: Raw" is better, more realistic, and more compelling then this crappy movie.
@johncg25: couldn't agree more, i felt the same as i watched this flick.

shareFor me this movie was highly over-rated. All the characters were one dimensional, the wife was painful to watch, her acting was terrible. The head guard/bad guy was a terribly cliche bad guy, his motives were very basic. Dorff and Kilmer were solid enough but I was never enganged emotionally. The story itself was not something we haven't seen before. I've seen a bunch of movies set in prison and this ranks as one of the worst i've seen. Can't believe it's ranked so high. 3/10.
