Give her a break. This was hard on her also. First, a lot of the money was tied up in the wedding, and she mentioned that on one of the visits. Second, she asked him to tell her...talk to her... and he wouldn't, so she said "fugg you Wade." That was pure emotions, and you add in a typical annoying mother who's been hurt by a man, and it all seems very realistic.

I disagree with the OP.

you can clearly see both sides and everyone is going to be on edge during a rough time like that as they are both suffering. this should be pretty obvious.
