The scene must have been filmed over several days and the studio needed the gun elsewhere or something, so they just grabbed what was available. To them a gun is a gun.
And what are the chances of the train catching the ONE bag that has the gun stashed in it? And drops it at DW's feet? Too utterly ridiculous!
